Library service were first established in Sweet Home in 1942 in the basement of City Hall alongside the Police Department. Since then it has been moved and expanded into a larger building across the parking lot from City Hall.
The Library has 6 computers available for public use. Users may sign in to use a computer for 1 hour per day (check with Library staff for possible time extensions if you are typing a resume, completing a job application or doing school work.)
The Library's holdings are inventoried and automated for patron's use. Cardholders can log into the Library's card catalog, search for books and place the materials on hold from their home. The new website is: http://shpl.ci.sweet-home.or.us
The Sweet Home Public Library is part of the Linn Libraries Consortium. You may find a book in a series, for instance, that you have been waiting for in Albany. Using your Library card, place the item on hold and a courier will deliver it to the Sweet Home Library for you to pick up. When you're done reading it, return it to the Library and a courier will take it back to the Albany Library. It is just that simple.
